About the Author

The Traveler
I like to think of myself as a writer-rocker-teacher-traveler(-nerd). For my latest writing, keep an eye on Bookslut, Fametracker, Love, Chicago, Fresh Yarn, Chicago6Corners, and my zine, Silver Lining. I also teach creative writing to kids through Dave Eggers' nonprofit center 826CHI and the new Open Books. I'm writing my first personal essay collection about my first year as an elementary school teacher at my old public school. Last but not least, I also tear up stages across America playing bass, singing, and bouncing around, currently with the Chicago indie rock band the Hitten Mitten. It's a busy life, but hey, you gotta live it up in case you get hit by a bus tomorrow, right? :)
